Jon Hulvey is an undergrad at UGA. He is participating in
research in David Porter's laboratory, Department of Botany. This
summer, Jon is working on finding the distribution of chytrids over
one of the GCE/LTER
transects from salty to freshwater marshes. He
has also discovered an interesting problem in the form of the
high frequencies that he is finding for
Pythium graminicola
var.
stagni over his transect. Could this Pythium at least
sometimes be pathogenic on marshgrass roots (like its terrestrial
counterpart can be for cereals)?
